Teflon Corrogated Hose Convoluted PTFE Tubing
Teflon (PTFE) convoluted/corrugated tubing combines the chemical/temp resistance of PTFE with a flexible, bellows-like structure for dynamic movement, often with a stainless steel braid for strength, used for aggressive fluid transfer in chemicals, pharma, food/beverage, and aerospace, offering excellent flexibility, kink resistance, and handling extreme temps (up to 260°C/500°F) while preventing contamination.
Key Features
Material: Virgin PTFE for the inner core.
Construction: Corrugated (convoluted) design for extreme flexibility and bend radius.
Protection: Often features a stainless steel (SS) braid exterior for abrasion, pressure, and flex fatigue resistance.
Temperature Range: Handles wide ranges, often -65°C to 260°C (-85°F to 500°F).
Chemical Resistance: It can resist almost all strong acids, strong alkalis, strong oxidants and organic solvents (except for molten alkali metals and fluorinated media above 300°C).
Hygiene: Smooth bore options are available for easy cleaning, vital for pharma/food.
High flexibility and anti-twisting property: The corrugated (or coiled) structure gives it greater flexibility and a smaller bending radius than ordinary smooth PTFE tubes, making it highly suitable for applications that require frequent movement or have limited space.
Non-stick surface: The low friction coefficient and non-sticky surface make the inner wall of the hose easy to clean, preventing the accumulation of medium, which is particularly important in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Electrical insulation: It features excellent dielectric properties and high resistivity.
Weather resistance and anti-aging property: It will not age even after long-term exposure to ozone and sunlight.
To meet different pressure and application requirements, PTFE corrugated hoses are usually combined with other materials to make composite hoses.
Pure PTFE corrugated tubes: Suitable for low-pressure, corrosive environments or as cable sheaths.
Stainless steel braided PTFE corrugated hose: One or more layers of 304 stainless steel braided mesh are covered outside the PTFE inner tube, significantly enhancing the pressure resistance (up to several megapascals at the maximum working pressure) and the ability to resist external damage.
Reinforced with spiral steel wire: Some models incorporate spiral steel wire into the corrugated structure to enhance resistance to negative pressure (vacuum) and torsion.
Application Areas
Chemical Transfer
Excellent resistance to strong acids, bases, and solvents.
