Thin Wall PTFE Teflon Heat Shrink Tubing
Thin wall PTFE Teflon heat shrink tubing offers superior performance in demanding applications due to its exceptional chemical resistance, high temperature stability, and excellent electrical insulation properties. It is widely used in industries such as medical, aerospace, and electronics for component protection and insulation.
Key Procedures
- Preparation: Clean components to ensure proper adhesion. Cut the tubing, allowing for a 5%-10% longitudinal shrinkage.
- Application: Slide the tubing over the component.
- Heating: Apply heat evenly, moving the heat gun back and forth to avoid burning, until the tube shrinks tightly.
- Cooling: Allow it to cool naturally, during which the tubing will turn from clear back to its original milky white color.
- Safety: Use in well-ventilated areas, as PTFE can emit fumes at high temperatures.
Common Applications
The unique combination of properties makes thin wall PTFE tubing suitable for various critical applications:
Electrical Insulation
Encapsulating and insulating wires, cables, and connectors, particularly in corrosive or high-temperature environments.
01
Medical Devices
Used in applications like catheters and surgical instruments due to its biocompatibility, chemical resistance, and ability to withstand sterilization processes (autoclaving, ETO).
02
Aerospace & Automotive
Protecting components and wire harnesses from fuels, lubricants, and extreme temperatures and mechanical stress.
03
Chemical Processing
Used as a protective covering for sensors, probes, and rollers that handle aggressive chemicals and solvents.
